Public Authority Acquiring the Land and Encumbrances: BC Hydro
The Capital Regional District (CRD) Board accepted an offer from BC Hydro to purchase lands affected by a potential flood inundation area at Jordan River for $3.13 million. The CRD is retaining the oceanfront lands within the inundation zone and south of the West Coast Road, including the campground and beach used by the surfers. The waterfront lands within the inundation zone will have a statutory right of way (SRW) and a covenant placed on title. The statutory right of way provides BC Hydro the right to flood in the event of a failure of BC Hydro’s dam works located upstream. The covenant restricts the use of the lands for overnight habitation, however, will not prohibit overnight camping.
The properties are shown on the map below The three lots being disposed of have a total area of 26.46 hectares. The statutory right of way and covenant has an area of 2.36 hectares.
This notice is for the purpose of public notification and invitation to the public to make inquiries regarding the disposition of the above-mentioned property For more information please contact the CRD at
